Man faces attempted murder charge in shooting near Carytown

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond man faces an attempted murder charge following a shooting in the 300 block of South Sheppard Street earlier this week near Carytown. 

The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 27-year-old Montez Ellis on Thursday in the incident that occurred just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. 

Police were initially called to the area for report of random gunfire. A short time later, a shooting victim showed up to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The victim is now in stable condition and is expected to survive. 

Ellis also faces a charge of use of a firearm by a felon.
