NFL releases 2017 schedule; Redskins to play on Thanksgiving

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The National Football League has released the schedule of games for the 2017 season.

One noteworthy game for Washington Redskins fans is that the team will play on Thanksgiving this year.

The game, held on Nov. 23, will take place on FexExField against the New York Giants at 8:30 p.m. This will be the first home Thanksgiving game for the franchise.

The Redskins will play at home against the Philadelphia Eagles for Week 1.

    The Richmond Roughriders do not plan on returning to Richmond and have begun looking for a new home, in anticipation that the Richmond Coliseum will be torn down, according to team owner Gregg Fornario. They become the fifth indoor football team since 2002 to leave the River City.
