VCU lands transfer guard Evans

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Rice transfer guard Marcus Evans has committed to VCU, he announced on his Twitter page on Monday night. After sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, Evans will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The guard was one of the top players in Conference USA during his time as an Owl under current VCU head coach Mike Rhoades. He captured conference freshman of the year honors two years ago, and is a two-time all-league first team guard.

This past season, Evans averaged 19.0 points and 3.7 assists per game. He's widely regarded as one of the best transfers on the market this off-season, and was also considering Miami and Arizona.

Evans announced he was transferring from Rice shortly after Rhoades departed to take the Rams' head job. The head coach was introduced at VCU on March 22.
