RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Friday marks Paralympic Experience Day at VCU, which will be put on by Sportable and the Center for Sports Leadership.
The evening will feature a chance for attendees to try their hand at several adaptive sports, and see a wheelchair basketball match-up between the Rams and the Sportable Spokes. It's a night that's eye-opening for all involved.
"I think when people are able to experience that themselves and to see that it is a high level, it is difficult and it's a lot of fun, I think that makes a huge difference and I think a lot of people will walk away from here wanting to volunteer," said Gabby Dyer.
"I'm super excited about this because we're going to be able to show a lot of people who don't know what adaptive sports are the things that we do every day in our lives," said Corrales Dupree.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and Marc Davis will emcee the event.
