DINWIDDIE, VA (WWBT) -

The Dinwiddie Sheriff's Office says there were reports of multiple gunshots at a Virginia Motorsports Park event on Saturday night.

The sheriff's office said two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but authorities were not sure whether those were from gunshots or from the chaotic scene afterward.

Police also say one person was injured when they were hit by a car while evacuating the area.

The shooting was initially reported at 8 p.m., said Maj. William Knott with the Dinwiddie Sheriff's Office.

He also said two vehicles were shot, and that there were other incidents outside the park after the initial shooting.

No law enforcement officers were injured, and no arrests have been made.

"We're extremely lucky," said Knott. "This could have been a lot worse."

Virginia Motorsports Park is at 8018 Boydton Plank Road in northern Dinwiddie near Petersburg.

According to the park's Facebook page, there was a "Big 5 State Bike Rally" on Saturday that was expected to draw nearly 10,000 people to the area.

The facility does not allow weapons, but does not have metal detectors at its entrances.

The event, which was scheduled through 11 p.m. Saturday, included a concert with rapper Lil Boosie.

The rapper was not at the event during the reported shooting, and posted to Instagram that he was "kind of pissed off" that he couldn't perform. (Warning: his video contains graphic language.)
