Pedestrian killed in I-64 crash in Henrico identified

Virginia State Police say a pedestrian died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Henrico.

The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Raymond Canaday of Richmond, Virginia.

The crash happened around 9:05 a.m. on Thursday at mile marker 199, near Richmond International Airport. Officers say a vehicle was on the right shoulder, and Canaday was standing outside of the car.

Another vehicle that was heading east on Interstate 64 ran off the right side of the road and hit Canaday, who died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident closed several lanes of the interstate Thursday morning, but all lanes have reopened.

The crash remains under investigation. No word on any charges at this time.
