RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - People are furious with the Richmond School Board about a projected $8.3 million surplus, and some are event calling for Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden's Job.
News of the fund surfaced last week, and people are wondering why the district is asking the city for so much money, when it has millions in reserves.
There was no plan to talk about this money at the meeting Monday night, but it was the first public comment opportunity since the news broke.
Bedden says this emergency fund is never included in a general operating budget and the city knew about it. The mayor says he didn't know about it, and school board members say they didn't know either.
Now others want to know why it isn't being included in the operating budget.
