64-year-old Richmond man struck, killed by train in East End

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Police say a 64-year-old Richmond man died Tuesday morning after being struck by a train in the city's East End. 

Police say a passerby spotted a man -- James D. Wyche -- on the train tracks at 7:21 a.m. 

Wyche was pronounced dead on the scene. 

"It was apparent Wyche was struck by a train," the Richmond Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday afternoon. 

Detectives are working with Norfolk Southern to determine when Wyche was struck and are interviewing the engineer and conductor of a train that traveled through the area around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
