ARLINGTON, TX (WWBT) -

A police officer who caught a teen smoking marijuana decided to use the incident as a learning moment instead of taking the kid to jail.

Arlington, TX Police Officer Eric Ball was working security at a movie theater when he saw the teen smoking weed near the front door, reports Fox4News.com. Instead of arresting him he told him to do 200 pushups.

The pushups were caught on video and posted to social media.

"Big UP's to the Arlington Police Officer that made the young black guy that decided to smoke weed on the movie theater parking lot to do push-ups then take him to jail or shoot him just Cuz. We need more cops like this. #Policeeverywhereneedtotakenotes #ArlingtonPoliceDept," wrote Raiza Paredez.

The woman said she was going to show the video to her son to make sure he would think twice before making the same mistake.
