Icy roads spark dozens of crashes in Central VA

(WWBT) - Virginia State Police say that icy road conditions have caused dozens of crashes in Central Virginia on Saturday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., police said they were on the scene of 40 crashes that had started around 4 a.m.

A couple of crashes completely shut down roads, including one on northbound Route 288 near Route 10. Those lanes reopened around 8 a.m.

State police also said there was a major crash on northbound I-95 in Spotsylvania that involved multiple vehicles.
