RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The driver of a Friends Family Center daycare van involved in an accident in Monday morning is being charged with a summons for disregarding a red light.

Police say 46-year-old Eyvette Peebles of Richmond failed to stop at the red light on Lombardy Street and crashed into a black Kia Sorrento traveling down Brook Road.

Peebles was driving four children to "Friends Association For Children" daycare  around 6:45 this morning

Police say the children were secured in the back seat and are going to be okay.

Officers say the woman in the Kia Sorrento had the green light. She had a back injury and was checked by paramedics on scene. The woman’s husband, Patrick Bell, drove her to the hospital.

“When one of your loved ones gets hurt, you want to get there and try to do everything you can do. That’s all I’m trying to do right now,” Bell said. “Holidays are close. It’s kind of the last thing you want to deal with.”

Court records show Peebles had two infractions back in 2007.

The four daycare students' parents were notified about the accident on the scene.
