RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The Richmond SPCA says 14 dogs rescued from a meat farm in South Korea arrived at their humane center Friday evening.

Humane Society International worked to shut down the farm and supply the farmers with seed to cultivate other crops. The dogs being transferred to Richmond were sheltered in Daegu and Ilsan, South Korea. They were vaccinated and flown to Washington, D.C. before they arrived in Richmond.

The Richmond SPCA says they will "deliver to them all necessary care to prepare them for adoption to lasting, loving homes in our community."

The dogs will be seen by a vet, have some time to work on their behavior, and given a second chance.

The SPCA says they are hoping to have some of these dogs adopted in a few weeks.
