CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Two restaurants had high numbers of violations on their last health inspections in tonight's Restaurant Report. These two restaurants both had employees that were touching clean dishes when they hadn't washed their hands and they had foods sitting at the wrong temperature.
Up first is Texas Roadhouse at 1570 West Koger Center Drive in Chesterfield, with 6 priority violations, 2 priority foundation, and 2 core violations. The inspection report says staff was eating on the food prep line, the dish washer handled dirty dishes, then clean dishes wearing the same gloves, and some chili, sweet potatoes, cheese and rice were not kept at proper temperatures.
We contacted Texas Roadhouse headquarters about the inspection. They sent us this statement: "Texas Roadhouse is committed to food safety and sanitation. We have a 5 ½ year history of exemplary health scores in Chesterfield. All violations from the October 28 inspection were addressed and corrected immediately by our staff."
When the inspector returned a week later, the restaurant earned a perfect score.
Next is Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet at 9043 West Broad Street in Henrico. It had 5 priority violations, 2 priority foundation, plus 6 core violations on its last health inspection. The report says an employee wiped their face and failed to wash their hands before cooking. Another failed to wash their hands before handling clean dishes. Some chicken had to be thrown out because it was sitting at an improper temperature. And some knives and the slicer were dirty. The report shows some violations were corrected during the inspection. When the inspector returned in five days, all but two core violations were fixed.
