HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

Hanover deputies raised nearly $2,000 during their annual Tip-A-Cop event.

All of the money came from tips, serving families at the Red Robin at Virginia Center Commons Saturday.

All of the proceeds raised from the event will go to Special Olympics Virginia.

"People have come from all over just to support law enforcement throughout the area," said Captain Ricky Dandridge with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office. "I'll tell you, just about everyone who's come through these doors, in and out, has thanked us personally for the work that we do."

"It's nice to see them out here supporting the Special Olympics," said a mother at Red Robin. "You can tell, it means a lot to them."

Last year, they raised $1,900.
