RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Employees of a Dollar General on Richmond's south side were in tears on Friday morning after a man was found shot dead outside the store in the city's 50th homicide of the year.

Richmond police were called to the store near Walmsley Boulevard and Hopkins Road around 8:05 a.m. When they arrived they found a man who had been shot in his car. Police believe someone shot several times into the car, breaking the windows leaving the driver slumped over inside.

Richmond police are now investigating and haven't yet released the man's identity or any information on a suspect or motive. However, neighbors say the victim was an employee.

Bullet casings were found around the car and police are now looking for witnesses in the neighborhood and reviewing surveillance video from the Dollar General store.
