Police dog rescues lost boy with autism in the woods

(WWBT) -

A Michigan police dog is being heralded as a hero after helping rescue a lost young boy with autism in the woods this week.

According to a report shared by NBC affiliate 9News, the Mason County Press reports that police were dispatched to a report of a missing boy just before 4 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 6, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The boy’s mother called 911 after her son had been missing for 15 minutes.

“K-9 Cash was contacted and located the child approximately three-quarters of a mile back in the woods,” Cole said to the Mason County Press.

“The child refused to walk back with the deputy but befriended Cash who led the boy out of the woods.”
