NBC12/RVA Sports Network Big12 Poll - Week of September 19

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Here is the NBC12/RVA Sports Network ‘Big 12’ high school football poll for week five.  For the second straight week we have a new #1 team.  Manchester moves into the top spot for the first time this season after knocking off previous top-dog, LC Bird:

1) Manchester (3-0, last week #6) – The Lancers move up five spots to #1 after beating previous #1 LC Bird on Friday night.  The Lancers are the third team to occupy our top spot in the last three weeks.  Up next: vs. James River

2) Dinwiddie (3-0, last week #2) – The Generals held steady in our poll during their bye week.  Up next: at Hopewell

3) Hermitage (2-1, last week #3) – The Panthers picked up a win on the road at Varina and remained at #3 in this week’s poll.  Up next: vs. JR Tucker

4) LC Bird (3-1, last week #1) – The Skyhawks were the latest team to fall out of the #1 spot in our poll following their home loss to Manchester.  Up next: at Clover Hill

5) Highland Springs (2-1, last week #4) – The Springers fell a spot in this week’s poll despite having a bye last Friday. Up next: vs. Armstrong

6) Henrico (3-0, last week #5) – Despite a win at JR Tucker, Henrico slipped a spot in this week’s poll to #6.  The Warriors are still undefeated and play fellow unbeaten, Patrick Henry this week.  Up next: at Patrick Henry

 7) Lee-Davis (3-0, last week #8) – The Confederates jumped up a spot this week after staying unbeaten with a shutout of Glen Allen.  Up next: at Varina

 8) Monacan (4-0, last week #10) – The Chiefs moved up two spots this week after hanging 60+ points on Clover Hill on Friday. Up next: at Huguenot

 9) Douglas Freeman (3-0, last week #9) – Douglas Freeman remained at #9 this week after needing a big comeback to win at Atlee.  Up next: vs. John Marshall

 10) Thomas Dale (2-1, last week #7) – The Knights tumbled three spots in this week’s poll despite being on the bye week.  Up next: vs. Colonial Heights

 11) Hopewell (2-1, last week #11) – Hopewell held steady at #11 this week following a win at Hanover.  Up next: vs. Dinwiddie

 12) Benedictine (2-0, last week #12) – Benedictine was on a bye last week and remains at #12 in this week’s poll.  Up next: vs. Liberty Christian.
