PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) -

A second company is threatening to pull vital gear from the Petersburg Fire Department because of unpaid bills.

In an email to the fire chief, Blue Ridge Rescue Suppliers says it's still owed more than $32,000 from a federal FEMA grant for pants, coats, helmets and 14 pairs of boots.

The company says if it doesn’t gets the money by September 12, the gear will be repossessed. The federal money can only be used on these items.

In a letter from the company to the city:

"It is with great remorse that I inform you of the intent of Blue Ridge Rescue Suppliers to request the return of all PPE items sold to the Petersburg Fire Department, that to date have not been paid for. It brings me no pleasure at all to do so and I deeply regret the situation in which your department has been placed."

Two weeks ago, another Richmond company took back more than $390,000 in gear from the firefighters because of unpaid bills from the grant money.

"Inquiries to your finance department have left us with no reasonable assurance that any of the invoices will be paid," Hackney said in his email.

If the payment is not received in full by Sept. 12, Blue Ridge Rescue Suppliers will repossess the items at 10 a.m. Sept. 15.
