Deputy helps calm boy with autism using pushups

(WWBT) -

A powerful image has been shared across Facebook hundreds of times as a Tennessee deputy does push-ups with a young boy with autism, leaving a lasting impression on the boy's mother.

In a Facebook post by Christy Richardson, she praised Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Corey Loftis for helping calm her son Bubba down.

NBC affiliate WRCB reports that the mother called the sheriff’s office in an attempt to help Bubba, who she said was severely agitated at the time.

In the photo, the deputy was able to show Bubba how to channel his frustration by doing push-ups.

Christy said her son was calmed him down to the point where Bubba was laughing.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office post quoted Christy, “I can’t thank Officer Loftis enough for being so caring through it all.”
