HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Charges have been dropped against a man originally accused of killing a teenager in Richmond on Christmas Eve.

Todd Jones Sr. was arrested last month and charged with voluntary manslaughter, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. However, prosecutors say they did not have enough evidence and nolle prossed the charges.

The victim, 18-year-old Trayquan Holmes, was found around 10 p.m. on December 24 last year in the 2000 block of North 29th Street suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Holmes' grandmother says she had no idea this was in store. She’s devastated that Jones will now be released.
