RIO DE JANEIRO (WWBT) - Henrico's Townley Haas finished his first heat on Sunday in the 200 meter freestyle.

Haas originally qualified for the event with a time of 1:45.66, the ninth fastest in American history and edging out Conor Dwyer by .01 seconds during the Olympic team trials.
The fastest time in the qualifying heats was 1:45.75, by Sun Yang of China.
Conor Dwyer also qualified with a time of 1:45.95.
If Haas qualifies for the Gold Medal Final, he will compete on Monday.
