Are you a candidate for back surgery? And if so, do you know your options? One would be minimally invasive spine surgery, which was developed to treat spine problems with less injury to the muscles and other normal structures in the spine.
Chippenham and Johnston Willis Hospitals offer such surgery using the Mazor Spine Robot.
Dr. Joshua Herzog, an orthopedic spine surgeon, explains the added benefit this technology provides:
"The Mazor Spine Robot actually helps me to better do minimally invasive spine surgery. The idea behind minimally invasive spine surgery is that it takes smaller incisions to do the same outcome or the same work inside the spine. And the Mazor Robot works as an extension of me in putting in screws or cages. It kind of works as a safety mechanism for me in my operating room.”
Other advantages include less bleeding and shorter stays in the hospital.
