CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Vandals caused more than $50,000 in damage at a Chesterfield Health Department construction site overnight, according to the work crew's superintendent.
The vandalism occurred Sunday night into early Monday morning and was discovered by crews arriving at the scene around 5:30 a.m.
Crews say someone hopped into one bulldozer and plowed it into the construction trailer. Another bulldozer plowed into a retention pond. There was also damage to the sheathing on the 40,000 square foot addition to the Chesterfield Health Department. According to the superintendent of the job-site, the vandals even broke into the existing Chesterfield Health Department building
Muddy handprints were seen all over the windows, and police are now reviewing video captured from the scene.
Detectives are investigating.
