Boat sinks in James River near Dutch Gap, 2 kids rescued

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Rescue crews were called to the Dutch Gap boat ramp on Monday after a boat started to take on water in the James River.

Henrico and Chesterfield crews arrived around 2:15 p.m. to Coxendale Road. Four people were on the boat fishing when it started to sink.

Two of the people were able to swim to shore. Rescue crews picked up two kids from the sinking boat. All of them were wearing life jackets and everyone was okay.

Henrico crews are working with the Coast Guard to retrieve the boat.
