STAFFORD, VA (WWBT) - A 16-year-old driver is facing homicide and eluding charges after a police pursuit ended in a fatal crash in Stafford Saturday morning.
According to officials with Virginia State Police, just after 9 a.m. Saturday, a police pursuit was initiated involving a teenage driver in a F-250 pickup truck in King George.
That pursuit eventually made its way into Stafford, which is when police said the truck was traveling the wrong way along the eastbound lanes of Route 3 at a high rate of speed when it struck an eastbound-traveling Yamaha motorcycle, just over 1.5 miles west of the King George County line.
After making impact with the motorcycle, driven by Fredericksburg native Joshua Mugabi Dombo, 30, the truck then side-swiped a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck that was also driving east on Route 3.
Neither the teenage driver of the F-250 pickup or the adult driver of the Chevrolet pickup were injured.
Dombo was thrown from his motorcycle from the impact of the crash and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The teenage driver was taken into custody by the King George Sheriff's Office.
The Virginia State Police Culpeper Division Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing crash investigation.
