Police investigate shooting near I-95, Maury St. that sent one person to hospital

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond and Virginia State Police are actively searching for the suspect in a shooting near Interstate 95 that sent one person to the hospital Sunday.

According to Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller, just after 8 p.m. troopers received a "Be on the Look Out" call from Richmond Police for a vehicle that was involved in a shooting near the Maury Street exit Sunday evening.

Within minutes, state police found the vehicle and an occupant inside suffering from gunshot wounds. 

The shooting victim was transported to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The police activity closed the Maury Street ramp for a time as officers conducted their investigation. 

Police have not released any suspect information in connection with the Sunday evening shooting.
