Suspect opens fire inside Richmond pharmacy during robbery attempt

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The search is on for the suspect who opened fire inside a Richmond pharmacy during an attempted armed robbery Saturday morning.

According to Richmond Police, the incident unfolded at the Walgreens store in the 3500 block of Ellwood Avenue near North Thompson Avenue just after 9 a.m.

Investigators say the suspect, who is described as a black male, standing 5'10", weighing 150 lbs, was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a black long-sleeve underneath, jeans, and red, black, and white shoes, entered the store carrying a handgun and demanded money from the business.

Police said the robber fired his gun before fleeing the store on foot without any money. No one was hurt in the shooting.
