PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - While the nation remembered the sacrifices of our men and women of America's armed forces, Petersburg Police say two men used the Memorial Day holiday to break into a city school and steal money.
According to police, surveillance footage captured two men inside the Westview Early Childhood Education Center on Patterson Avenue around 11 p.m. on Monday, May 30.
Investigators say damage suggests the pair broke a window, gained entry and rummaged through drawers and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the office and cafeteria. The aftermath of the break-in wasn't discovered until the next day.
Suspect 1 is described as a black male with an orange long sleeve shirt with a pharaoh image on the back, black undershirt, green jeans and white gloves. His braided hair had a part down the middle. He appeared shorter than Suspect 2.
Suspect 2 is also described as a black male who was wearing a black short sleeve shirt, black shorts and blue boxer shorts. His dark hair appears cut evenly short.
