HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Family reunions are being held all over the nation. A special one is happening this Saturday at the Henrico Theatre, and all families are invited.

"Captain Charismatic" is the featured guest, a character who has been making a difference in the lives of families for decades.

Rapping onstage is nothing new to Pastor Jim Langlois. However, when he usually drops his rhymes, he is not wearing a shirt and jeans, but a red cape with a splash of gold.

That is because Langlois transforms into "Captain Charismatic," a character he created more than thirty years ago.

"I was raised as a Catholic, and went to catechism class and things like that and learned some things, but it didn't have a real big impact on me," said Langlois. "But when I started in the ministry and they asked me to teach the children, I decided to see what I could do to grab their attention more and become more of a character for them,"

Not only did he become a character, he brought along all of the captain's friends as well.

Over the years, they have traveled the world, teaching the Bible in a fun way to hundreds of children, which is what recently inspired an idea...

"Since I've taught kids for so many years and they've grown, and now they have kids, what if we had a family reunion?" said Langlois.

Pastor Langlois says he has noticed many people pulling away from church over the years. So, he wants to empower entire families through the captain's rap and this upcoming reunion.

"My goal is to raise up the parents to get the gospel into the homes on a daily basis through family worship, that we can really affect the next generation," said Langlois.

Captain Charismatic's Family Reunion will be held Saturday, June 11 at the Henrico Theatre.

It begins at 7 p.m., and is free to the public.
