RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Fire crews responded to a playground fire at G.H. Reid Elementary School on Tuesday.
School officials tell us they estimate the fire caused about $150,000 in damage. They say this will be difficult to replace, given the school system's money woes.
"It's unfortunate, because while I'd love to say I'd have a crew here tomorrow, we'd be taking the old up and putting the new down, and we'd be in place very quickly, it's just not that simple," said Tommy Kranz, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services. "We have to look at the limited dollars we have and see where it shakes out."
No word on any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
