RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It's that time of year where family and friends will pour into town to celebrate that special graduate.
Along with the pomp and circumstance comes extra traffic that you will need to be on the lookout for.
More than 4,300 students are getting ready to walk across the stage just from Chesterfield alone with graduations beginning Tuesday. Whether you're attending one or not, chances are you'll run into a driver who is. You'll want to be mindful of the many events taking place.
Students from St. Gertrude will gather with their friends and loved ones at 3 p.m., and that kicks off a host of other graduations into next week - many of them happening at the Siegel Center on W. Broad St.
On Thursday, students from Thomas Dale, Clover High, and Monacan will take to the stage beginning at 10 a.m. with the last graduation of the day kicking off at 7 p.m.
The extra traffic in that area could last all day in the days ahead.
Expect traffic on West Broad Street between Belvidere Street and N. Boulevard. There will also be some traffic on W. Grace and W. Marshall streets, along with several side streets in the area.
As an alternate, take Interstate 95 to get around the area, which can be accessed on Belvidere Street or North Boulevard.
