STAFFORD, VA (WWBT) - Virginia State Police are investigating a plane crash in Stafford County.
The crash happened around 5:33 p.m. Monday. According to police, an experimental aircraft was taxiing on the runway of the Stafford Regional Airport when it unintentionally lifted off and flew over the Centreport Parkway. It then crash-landed into an embankment near the southbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 137.
The pilot, Roberta Boucher, 62, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic on I-95 South was closed in the area until around 6 p.m.
