Chesterfield woman killed in motorcycle crash on I-95 Saturday afternoon

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Chesterfield woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 95 near Bells Road in Richmond.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2014 Aprilia motorcycle was traveling southbound on I-95 at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic when it struck the rear of a 2010 Ford Escape.

That impact caused the motorcycle to run off the road to the right and strike a guardrail.

The driver of the Ford SUV was not injured.

The motorcycle driver, identified as 46-year-old Stacy Custalow of Chesterfield, was taken to Chippenham Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Troopers say the woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

As the investigation continues, police say speed is being considered a factor in the crash.
