CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

There was a social media frenzy, but no discovery of loose llamas despite a call to Chesterfield Police on Friday morning.

Chesterfield police received a report of an adult and baby llama on the loose in the 15000 block of Midlothian Turnpike near Route 288, but when Chesterfield police arrived on the scene the llamas were nowhere to be found. With little else to go off of, they called off their search.

The llamas and their owners haven't been found, as of 4:30 p.m. Officials don't believe the llamas belong to the Metro Richmond Zoo due to the distance the llamas would have to cover.

Still, the Twitterverse was abuzz with demands for helicopter reports and live coverage. The unusual report also led Buzzfeed to give the story their usual social media treatment.
