Bill Clinton's trip to Richmond takes center stage in this week's PolitiFact.
The former president took on the NRA at a campaign rally for his wife. He said each year gun ownership has gone down slightly in America, but PolitiFact says that's only half true.
They looked at poll data, and gun ownership has fluctuated, up and down.
Pew Research says there's no definitive data on the subject, and there's another major problem here.
"One of the criticisms of these polls is that people may not be very forthcoming in telling someone who's calling them in a survey, whether or not they have a gun in their home," said Richmond Times-Dispatch Reporter Sean Gorman.
Although polls on gun-owning households are erratic, PoliitFact rules you can make a plausible argument that there's a long-range downward trend.
