This week was a great week for the children of Central Virginia. There was a ribbon cutting for the new Children’s Pavilion, a multi-story, high-tech outpatient facility for children, located on the downtown Richmond MCV campus. The Children’s Pavilion is the latest addition to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
This $200 million, 640,000 square foot facility has been specially designed with a James River naturalistic theme in mind to provide an oasis for treating acute pediatric needs while providing a welcoming environment for the children and their families.
As a result of five years of careful planning and preparation Richmond will be the home to the largest, state of the art, outpatient medical facility for children in the region.
This is certainly a giant step for the Richmond region and for the children in the surrounding areas. While this is a big step, Richmond medical must continue to brainstorm and develop the will to achieve the ultimate goal, and that is full scale comprehensive Children’s Hospital that will completely serve the needs of our children.
Congratulations VCU Health Systems, on this first important step.
