TAPPAHANNOCK, VA (WWBT) - Several people went back to the scenes where they almost died only to find their homes ripped to shreds.
Candi Polk was with her two kids in the bathroom when the EF-3 tornado blew through her home in Tappahannock. The violent storm threw them across a field and broke her nose, her toe, and covered her in scratches. Her son was cut in several places and her daughter broke her arm. She says she's thankful to be alive.
Down the road, Marshall Campbell and his friends are having a bonfire using the pieces of his unsalvageable home as kindling. He recalls his pit bulls showing him where his family members were buried in the wreckage, in the moments after his home was destroyed. He pulled them to safety and Friday night he gets emotional while thanking his friends and everyone else who has helped by making donations.
