RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Dominion Virginia Power is expecting outages to grow a day after severe storms and tornadoes ripped through Central Virginia.
Crews say trees weakened by Wednesday's high winds may fall onto power lines on Thursday, causing additional outages.
If you see down power lines, Dominion VA Power says stay at least 30 feet away and warn others to stay away; Call the Dominion Help Line right away and wait on the line to speak with a representative.
As of 11:25 a.m., there are nearly 2,000 outages in the Richmond/Metro area, 578 in Northern Virginia and over 3,700 in Southern Virginia. Outages jumped from 3,100 in the Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck to about 9,200 since 10 a.m.
Crews say there is no exact timeline for restoration, but they are out in "full force" Thursday to make repairs.
