RESTAURANT REPORT: Fast food restaurant told 'too many criticals'

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

"Too many criticals. Attention is needed."

That's what a health inspector wrote on the inspection report for a fast food restaurant.

The report came from McDonald's at 8975 Staples Mill Road in Henrico. It had five critical violations on its last health inspection.

Among them, the report says, cheese was not labeled with a discard time to make sure it wasn't sitting out too long. The report also says the green plastic food trays had a dirty build-up. Two critical violations were corrected during the inspection.

Up next, I Don't Know Sports at 1920 West Hundred Road in Chester had four critical violations. The report says there was old food debris on the slicer, and food was stored on the floor of the walk-in freezer.

We contacted the bar pub but didn't hear back. It was reinspected two weeks later. That report shows all violations were corrected, but the slicer again had old food debris on it.

We gave our Hall of Fame Award to Level Restaurant and Bar at 2007 West Broad Street in Richmond.  This sushi restaurant's website says it's known for its modern twist on classic dishes. Level has aced four health inspections over the last two years.
