CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Wegmans announced the opening dates for the first two stores in the Richmond-area.
The Midlothian location is set to open on May 22, followed by the Short Pump store on August 7, according to a press release.
The 115,000 square-foot store in Midlothian will be located at Stonehenge Village Shopping Center. The Short Pump store will be slightly larger at 120,000 square feet and located at West Broad Marketplace. By comparison, a typical Walmart Supercenter is roughly twice that size.
The company is already hiring and training employees for both locations. Full-time openings include chefs, line cooks and restaurant server positions. Part-time positions include customer service and culinary roles in every department. You can apply online or call 1-877-934-6267. Each store will employ around 550 people, with 500 of those hired locally.
"Now is the time to apply. Although our stores won't open for several months, we bring new employees on board quickly in order to provide best-in-class training," said Wegmans Human Resources Manager Heather Gole. "We're known for putting employees first, offering competitive pay and benefits, and flexible scheduling. Many of our company leaders today cite Wegmans as their first job and went to college with tuition assistance from our employee scholarship program."
The company has routinely been named one of the best companies to work for in America and offers an Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program for employees.
