RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An accident in Richmond has left hundreds without power as a major winter storm approaches.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at Pear and Dock Street.
Police say a woman driving an SUV on Main, veered off the road and collided with the utility pole. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The power pole was broken in half, leaving a sparking cable in the street. Crews are on the scene working to make repairs, but Dominion says the project could take hours.
600 customers are in the dark right now, while crews work to fix the line.
Police say they believe alcohol may be a factor in this crash. Charges are likely pending.
