RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The cold temperatures are apparently so bad, one Richmond woman is choosing jail over the outdoors.

Capitol police say a woman hurled a cement block through a window of the General Assembly Building on Thursday night. When
officers arrived, the woman said she wanted to be arrested so she could have a warm place to sleep, according to officers. The officers obliged and took her to jail.

Senator Mark Obenshain tweeted he was in a finance subcommittee meeting when the block smashed through the window and into the room.

Capitol police say earlier tonight the suspect also punched a VCU student in the face for no reason. That student is OK.

The suspect, whose name hasn't been released yet, has been charged with simple assault and vandalism. Police say it doesn't appear the crime had anything at all to do with the committee meeting or the General Assembly.
