PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) -

Dominion Virginia Power says all 7,387 customers who lost power in the Tri-Cities and Chesterfield have had their power restored.

The utility says the customers lost power around 1 p.m. after the Harvell Substation in Petersburg had an equipment failure.

Petersburg courts were forced to work on a generator to get through the docket.

The outage came during a stretch of frigid temperatures caused by an Arctic front moving through Central Virginia. Temperatures were around 29 degrees on Tuesday afternoon in Petersburg.

At the outages peak, Dominion's online outage summary showed 7,486 in the Richmond metro and Tri-Cities area. Of those, 3,321 in Dinwiddie, 2,204 are in Petersburg and 1,869 in Chesterfield.
