MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) -

A Mechanicsville teen who went missing on Sunday returned home safely on New Year's Day and an 18-year-old has been charged in the case.

Fifteen-year-old Jasmine Nicole Keefer left her home Sunday night and wasn't seen for days. Help Save the Next Girl, an organization working to find missing people, circulated a poster on social media to try and find her. Henrico police said she was a runaway and may be in danger. Virginia State Police also issued an endangered missing child alert for her on New Year's Eve.

Keefer's mother tells NBC12 her daughter was with someone she knew and came home on Friday morning. She said her daughter was doing well.

Eighteen-year-old Holden Walters faces obstruction of justice and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges in the case, according to Hanover sheriffs.
