STAFFORD, VA (WWBT) - A Stafford man faces a first-degree murder charge for the death of his mother on Friday morning, according to the sheriff's office.
Christopher Michael Ellis, 38, is accused of beating his mother, Elizabeth, to death. Sheriffs were called to the mother's home on Fagan Drive around 5 a.m. for a report of a man yelling and acting strangely. When they arrived, they say Christopher Ellis assaulted a deputy before being taken into custody.
Deputies checking out the home found his mother's body inside. Investigators believe the 67-year-old died from blunt force trauma to the upper body.
"Our prayers and condolences go out to the Ellis family," states Sheriff Charles Jett. "This tragedy is one that no family or individual should ever have to endure."
Sheriffs are still investigating the death and haven't released a possible motive.
