MBFYB: Money saving shopping apps

(WWBT) -

Many of us are looking for the best deal on our holiday gifts. There are several apps that can make your season a whole lot merrier by saving you time and money.

You find what you think is a good deal, but can you do better? Red Laser is an app that lets you compare prices in stores or online. Just scan the item's barcode and Red Laser will tell you if you can get it for less somewhere else. You can also use it to store all of your loyalty cards.

Pricegrabber touts itself as smart shopping, anywhere, anytime. Just type in what you’re looking for and it will list which retailer has it and for how much.

If you're in the store and don't have a coupon, check Retail Me Not or Rather Be Shopping. Type in the store's name and you'll see all of the available coupons.

If you're shopping online at places like Amazon, Toy R Us or Khols, you should start with Ebates. Shopping through this app will kick back a percentage of your purchase to you. Right now, dozens of retailers are offering double cash back when you buy through Ebates. Plus, If you join now you get a ten dollar bonus just for signing up.

Another favorite is Target's Cartwheel app. You'll find hundreds of discounts ranging anywhere from five to 40 percent. Everyday, they have a different toy whose price is cut in half using this app. You can also scan your items barcode to see  if there is a discount available.

Before you buy, check if your store is on Ibotta. This cash back app works with popular retailers and gives you money back on your purchases. After you buy, scan the barcode to verify the purchase, take a picture of your receipt and the money is credited to your account. You cash out via PayPal or gift cards.
