Richmond man charged in two Southside homicides

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A suspect in a deadly Richmond triple shooting now also faces charges in a separate Southside homicide.

Anwar "Wawa" Philips now faces two counts of conspiracy to commit murder tied to two separate November homicides. The first is tied to a triple shooting at the Blue Ridge Estates apartment complex, which left Frank McCray dead and injured a 7-year-old and her father. Police now say he is also tied to a homicide a week prior on Talbert Drive.

Rolando Salas of Chesterfield was found shot to death on the side of the road on Nov. 10 in the Talbert shooting. Johnathan Moseley of Petersburg has also been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the case.

Six days later, police found McCray dead in the rear yard of a building on Red Ash Road and found the 7-year-old and her father shot inside. McCray was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police searching for Philips later found him shot at the Essex Village Apartments. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to Phillips' arrest.

Henrico Police say they have a person of interest in custody after the shooting.

Detectives ask anyone with further information in these cases to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
