RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

An area university gospel chorale is preparing to take its talents abroad. Members of the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale will set off on a nearly month-long European tour on December 5.

The chorale will perform in parts of Italy, Switzerland, Romania, and Hungary.

The chorale is one of the university’s most requested performing groups. Its primary mission is to provide gospel music for the university and community.

Earlier this year, the chorale claimed first place in the 2015 Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards Gospel Choir Competition, held in Atlanta.

The tour is scheduled to wrap up on December 31.
