This past Wednesday, I had the honor of attending the annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on one of the most important days of the year, Veterans Day.
What a great combination. The sold-out audience honored those that have made "giving from the heart" part of their life’s mission on a day when we also honored the many service men and women who have given so much and in some cases paid the ultimate sacrifice.
This year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Central Virginia honored the following individuals in several categories including Volunteer of the Year, Youth Philanthropist of the Year and Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy.
Here are this year’s honorees: Dr. W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr., Charles S. Luck, III and Family, Reshini Premartne, Impact Makers, Diversity Richmond Foundation, Aline Reitzer and Dr. Herbert A. Claiborne, Jr.
A central theme in all of their stories was the desire to give back so that someone else could have a chance for a better life.
To all of you who have made giving a part of your life’s mission, Central Virginia says Thank You!
