RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Former Delegate Joe Morrissey says his health is improving after medical concerns led him to drop his state senate bid.
Morrissey says he's seeing a diaphragm specialist and going through rehabilitation for the injury. At this time, he has no surgeries schedule.
He also says he and his former receptionist Myrna Pride are expecting their second child in April 2016, with a wedding to follow in May. He says the couple purchased a six-bedroom house in Richmond's Northside.
Morrissey was set to run as an Independent for the Virginia 16th Senate district against Rosalyn Dance, but withdrew in September to receive medical care for a paralyzed diaphragm at the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, NJ. Dance won the seat Tuesday night.
Morrissey declined to confirm rumors he plans to run for mayor of Richmond, but said he's not ruling it out.
